Colombia Roleto y Remanso

Elegant citrus with impressive length offers lovely floral aromas that remind us of white wines like Riesling and Chablis Chardonnay
Julio Cesar Montenegro
Chachagui, Nariño (1600m)
Fully washed Castillo and Caturra
This lot, ‘Casa Vieja’, stands apart among Julio Montenegro's three distinct farm sections as the newest, highest and most uniform. With even terrain and planted solely with the more elegant Caturra variety, it produces the most consistent and delicate profile preserved through meticulous processing. This lot has stunned us from our first tasting and we are thrilled to work with such a special coffee.
Saint Frank first discovered Julio Montenegro through our Colombia sourcing partners Azahar identifying the standout producers and terroir of the communities that surround the majestic Galera volcano. Chachagüí is unique in Nariño with its mid-sized farms and exceptional climate and soil perfect for coffee production with plenty of shade and organic material. This ultimately attracted Julio Cesar Montenegro to retire from law and to buy a farm, Roleto y Remanso, moving his family to Nariño. Julio’s fondest memories before becoming a lawyer were with his coffee farming grandfather and ultimately this love of coffee led him back to farming connecting with the land and cultivating amazing coffee to share with the world.
