Traditionally Washed Parainema
Laguneta is situated further south on the mountain from the founding lake-facing villages with a drier climate and plenty of farming challenges. But the terroir is undeniably exceptional boasting COE awarded coffees. These mature trees from Benjamin’s original plot display remarkable refinement and balance for the often sharp tasting Paraienma variety offering an elegant and compelling cup.
After many years of supporting and connecting small producers to the specialty market our friend Benjamin Paz established his own farm in 2014. Benjamin was driven to share his own coffees in relationships with roasters and was also inspired by his father’s original farm planted near a lagoon that he called “laguneta”. This farm comprises 5 different sections each with different varieties but we are proud to have represented the original planting every year from the very first harvest to now. Benjamin’s partner Elias Meza “Don Elias” lives on the remote farm managing an inspiring stewardship of land and resources that beautifully demonstrates the generous relational spirit that we love about this place, its people and its coffees.
