Pomelo and Sweet fig with a Graham Cracker Finish
This coffee is a perfect expression of the Tunja Grande terroir within the larger La Florida region of Nariño that surrounds the majestic volcano Vulcan Galeras. Primary orchard fruit flavors from both the Caturra and Castillo varieties are set in a balanced structure that combines plots from above the steep ravine at 1900 meters and those running all the way down to 1700 meters.
Saint Frank first discovered La Florida through our sourcing partner Azahar working brilliantly in tandem with the Occidente Cooperative of Nariño. After a few years of working with this community we identified Harold Obando of El Salto and eventually met his brother Ibex of the neighboring farm Carmelia. What began as survey sourcing has now become a meaningful connection within a specific community and even a specific family network to develop and express coffee terroirs that create pathways for advancement among small producers. The heritage of this coffee and its microlot legacies are wonderful examples of the transformative nature of terroir focused and relationally based specialty coffee. It doesn't get better than this.
