Finca Maravilla is truly a marvel. Bernardino’s farm enjoys one of the richest environments for specialty coffee production that we have ever seen naturally fielding an ideal biodiversity of microorganisms for coffee. This unique terroir typically produces a fresh sweet herbal note combined with the rounded Catuai varietal fruit character and the florality and length from the Typica variety.
Bernardino Aliaga lives on his 20 acre farm in the Amor de Dios Colonia of Bolivia along with his wife Francisca Mamani Machaca and his three children. He only planted his farm in 2007 but has worked with coffee for over 30 years as part of the Proagro Cooperative in Taipiplaya. Only recently has his coffee been consistently and meaningfully connected to the specialty market through a relationship with Saint Frank. In our visits together Bernardino often refers to his farm as “el paraiso del cafe” and it truly is a coffee paradise blessed to produce some of the greatest coffee in the world. We are humbled to collaborate on such a special terroir and product that can oftentimes be one of the most compelling coffees to demonstrate the honest wildness of Bolivia.
