Concord Grapes and Sweet Pastry with Almonds and Dark Chocolate
Grown by Aneal Enamorado
El Cedral, Santa Barbara (1650m)
Fully Washed Caturra and Bourbon
Milagro is a special selection of Caturra and Bourbon grown in a unique plot and climate compared to the rest of the coffee produced in Los Hermanos. A small crest slopes west and down toward the village of El Cedral facing the mountain. This coffee is the highest of all of Anael Enamorado’s production but still enjoys some of the exposure protection of all his plots which typically produces a softer profile. We have come to find that the cup evokes the character of El Cedral but with darker fruit and deep sweetness that contrasts the tropical citric acidity often found there.
On first meeting Anael Enamorado, we were struck by his humble and hopeful demeanor navigating the trials and potential tragedy of the disease of Coffee Leaf Rust for all of the three of the Los Hermanos: Aneal, Edwin and Reyna. They share a wet mill at the top of El Milagro where Anael has taken the lead in cultivating and processing the coffee for his siblings. Saint Frank has been working with Aneal since the 2014 season and we are always warmed and humbled in his presence and grateful to represent the wonderful coffees he produces for his family. After a few seasons of mixed lots in Hermanos we finally isolated the wonderfully unique flavors and character of El Milagro and are thrilled to share it with you as a special selection microlot!
