Kenya Kamweti Espresso

Sweet Ruby Red Grapefruit, Black Plum and Peach Tea
Thunguri Long Miles Since 2021
Njowa, Kirinyaga, Kenya
Fully washed SL28, SL34 Ruiri 11
Kamweti represents the promising flavors of a place and terroir beginning anew as the one of the first terroir zones identified and separated for the renewed Thunguri Factory in Kirinyaga County. Whereas the more populous Kiringa zone presents a structured frame of classic Kenyan blackcurrant, the Kamweti profile is like a sweet and tart fruit cocktail cup full of juicy cherry, peach and pineapple.
This coffee marks the first entry into Kenya for our longtime partners at the Long Miles Coffee Project of Burundi. After Long Miles founder Ben Carlson and Saint Frank founder Kevin Bohlin met producer Haron Wachira, the plans for Long Miles Kenya were born producing an inaugural harvest in 2021. Haron and his local community worked to revive their local Thunguri washing station in partnership with Long Miles connecting producers to a more consistent, equitable and relational specialty market. Saint Frank committed to the entire production of the renewed washing station and its first twenty producers, looking forward to increased quality and connections as the Thunguri Factory continues to grow as a beacon for what relational specialty coffee can be in Kirinyaga and the great origin of Kenya.
