Olvin Reyes is shimmering star among a mountain of brilliant constellations in one of brightest locations, the village of El Cielito. With just over an acre of steep terrain planted to coffee, Flor de Ocotillo is producing exceptional coffee under the care of a young and driven producer surrounded by Cup of Excellence winning farms and producers. High elevations, rich limestone based soil and cold cloud cover ascending from the lake below result in slowly ripened coffees of remarkable structure and complex flavor.
Olvin was raised by his uncle on Santa Barbara mountain where he was his right hand in coffee farming. He witnessed the opportunity created by specialty coffee as well as the unsustainable nature conventional coffee production. In 2013 he bought the land for his coffee with the help of his uncle beginning his own coffee journey the same year as Saint Frank in San Francisco and has been producing specialty coffee since 2015 when the trees produced their first harvest. Olvin is preparing to plant shade trees as a preemptive strategy against the warming temperatures on the mountain adding new plots of land for additional production. We are thrilled to partner in sharing this exceptional coffee looking forward to the bright future for Flor de Ocotillo.
